Job Title: Play Therapist

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Play Therapist to join our team in Manitoba. The Play Therapist will work with children and adolescents using play-based techniques to address emotional, behavioral, and psychological issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of child development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to create a safe and supportive environment for young clients.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct play therapy sessions with children and adolescents to address emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns.

• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessments and observations.

• Utilize a variety of play-based techniques and interventions to facilitate communication and emotional expression in clients.

• Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to provide comprehensive care and support for clients.

• Maintain accurate and confidential records of client progress, sessions, and assessments.

• Stay informed about current research and best practices in play therapy and child development.

• Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.

Requirements:

• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.

• Certification or licensure in Play Therapy or eligibility to pursue certification/licensure.

• Experience working with children and adolescents in a therapeutic setting.

• Knowledge of various play therapy techniques and their applications in addressing mental health issues.

• Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

• Understanding of ethical guidelines and standards in therapy practice.

• Familiarity with relevant regulations and laws governing therapy practice in Manitoba.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual proficiency in English and French considered an asset.

• Experience working with diverse populations and cultural sensitivity.
