Mikayla is an Art Therapist who can also be described as a multi-modal artist, likely laughing, probably hanging with animals, and a plant gal, who comes from a background in community outreach and direct support. She continues to navigate her own journey as a neuro-divergent, able-bodied human and settler who lives, works and benefits from taking up space on the ancestral land of the Anishinabe (Ojibway), Ininew (Cree), Oji-Cree, Dene, and Dakota and Métis people, in wīnipēk, ᐑᓂᐯᐠ; colonially known as Winnipeg, Manitoba.
She’s committed to continuous learning to create an anti-oppressive, culturally sensitive and decolonized therapeutic space. To her, this means centering upon safety and relationship; learning from the original and ongoing stewards of this land to keep taking care of her, ourselves and our communities in meaningful ways. She’s grateful to be on these grounds and to be given the opportunity to keep learning how to be better.

Mikayla Lalama
Mikayla is deeply moved by the unique, complex intricacies of people. To her, learning, connecting, collaborating and healing are all intertwined. Grounded in the belief that we all have an inherent right to reach a place of peace and healing, sharing our humanness with each other in relationship is the basis of her therapeutic work. Her goal is to be a part of building the space where you can tap into the wisdom you carry and become familiar with your inner knowing.
Miklaya believes we all have gifts, insight, knowledge and experiences that inform how we move through life and that sometimes, we just need someone to accompany us along that pursuit of self-discovery: someone to help guide and witness us as we unfold the parts of ourselves that have been crumpled up; smoothing out, recreating and refining our edges so that we can show up in the world in a way that feels true and aligned with who we are.
Her ambition is to carve out a supportive space where you can be witnessed with unconditional, positive regard; a place where there is safety and room to connect, grow and build towards a more true and embodied Self.
